Digital Nomad Visa for Bali

·6 min read

Indonesia has a new remote-worker visa. Here is everything you need to know.

Indonesia launched its E33G digital nomad visa in 2024. After helping dozens of guests, here is my honest guide.

## The Quick Version

  • E33G Visa: 1 year validity, extendable to 2 years max
  • Cost: Application + ITAS (verify current rates)
  • Income: ~USD 60k per year (verify current)
  • Can work remotely for foreign companies only

Why the E33G Exists Before 2024, options were limited (B211A 6 months, VOA 30 days). E33G is Indonesia's attempt at a clearer legal pathway.

Eligibility Requirements Valid passport, remote employment proof, income proof, health insurance, clean record.

Step-by-Step Application Before arrival: apply at Indonesian embassy with docs After arrival: apply for ITAS within 7 days

## Common Pitfalls

  • Income proof unclear (show regular monthly income)
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Working for Indonesian clients (need different visa)
  • Overstaying
  • Tax obligations (over 183 days = tax resident)

Practical Tips Use an agent, get a local tax advisor, join expat communities, book long-stay accommodation first.

Both our Canggu Surf Paradise and Uluwatu Surf Paradise are great bases for digital nomads.
